For an excursion in search of the roots of humanity, don’t miss theaccessible route<\/strong> to the Fresh Horns Boulder<\/strong>, at the<\/span>Archeopark<\/strong> of Darfo Boario Terme<\/strong> in <\/span>Val Camonica<\/b>, just over an hour from Bergamo and 20 minutes from Lovere (Lake Iseo).<\/span><\/p>\n

The valley holds over a hundred thousand human remains from prehistoric times, dating back 8,000 years, and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.
\nThousands of rocks decorated with symbols will tell you stories of hunters, navigators, farmers, warriors, wizards and more, taking you on an exciting journey through the green. <\/span><\/p>\n

At the Archeopark, in particular, you can explore not only a large multi-purpose theme park – among caves, villages and Neolithic farms – but also the <\/span>renewed accessible trail at the Fresh Horns Boulder<\/b>, located on the circuit that ascends to the Monticolo area. <\/span>This features engravings from the third millennium B.C., two sets of “halberds” (ritual axes) and dagger figures. <\/span> <\/p>\n

Thanks to the recent removal of architectural barriers, the relocation of the trail’s starting point, and the creation of dedicated parking spaces for the disabled, the trail is now accessible to people with mobility disabilities.<\/strong>

\nCamunia and the municipality of Darfo Boario Terme. <\/span><\/p>\n

S.T.A.I.-Services for Accessible and Inclusive Tourism-is<\/strong> a project funded by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Lombardy Region, with the aim of proposing a model of inclusive tourism to be developed in the lake and mountain territories of Bergamo and Brescia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Directions for the route<\/span><\/h3>\n

The course begins at the <\/span>Boario Terme Conference Center<\/b>, reachable in just over an hour’s drive from Bergamo and 20 minutes from Lovere on Lake Iseo.<\/span><\/p>\n

A large parking lot is available outside the facility, equipped with 6 parking spaces reserved for people with mobility disabilities.
\nOnce parked, cross Via Giorgio Gaioni to enter the protected bicycle and pedestrian path that leads to the Valle Camonica Cycle<\/strong> Track, marked by special signs and equipped with an asphalt surface.
\nA few meters and you will encounter a small drop with a 7.5% gradient, the only one on the route: you will be able to cross the small hill after 5 meters, thus reaching the intersection with the bike path.
\nAt this point turn right towards Localit\u00e0 Gattaro. <\/span><\/p>\n

Archeopark of Darfo Boario Terme<\/span><\/h3>\n

The path here becomes completely flat, still on an asphalt surface.
\nAfter 50 meters you will find yourself next to theArcheoPark<\/strong>: continue on the bike path for about 700 meters, after which, on the left side, you will see the Fresh Horns Archaeological site<\/strong>.
\nThe access area is indicated by a wood and metal installation, with explanatory panels thanks to which you can find out more about the site and its history. <\/span><\/p>\n

Pass the entrance and continue for 40 meters (the maximum slope is 4.5 percent, on a stabilized surface that can be walked on with wheelchairs).
\nAt the end, you can choose whether to admire the historiated boulder more closely or from the chestnut wood platform, accessible via the ramp at the fork in the trail and usable by people with disabilities.
\nThe platform is not only an excellent walkway, but also a comfortable seat in front of the rock, a double level that allows usability of the site even in bad weather. <\/span><\/p>\n
