The Modena City Ramblers will be among the headliners at NXT Summer in Bergamo. On July 19, the historic band will bring its new tour, Appunti Resistenti, to Piazzale degli Alpini. On the eightieth anniversary of the Liberation and celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of the release of the historic collective album ‘Materiale Resistente’ and the twentieth anniversary of the golden album ‘Appunti Partigiani,’ the Modena City Ramblers will set off on a special tour called ‘Appunti Resistenti,’ which will feature the songs that in its more than thirty-year career the band has dedicated to the theme of the Resistance struggle and the values of Antifascism, as well as some new songs that represent a new chapter in the artistic journey inspired by these themes, so linked to the identity of the “Ramblers.” There will, of course, be no shortage of the ‘workhorses’ that set the audiences of Italy and beyond ablaze, but the concert will be more than ever a joyful and convinced musical event Resistant and Militant, with those songs that, in these times of worrying social and political drift, become every night the song of a single People who recognize themselves in the Constitution and in the founding ideas of our Republic, because they are lived in a kind of secular communion of horizons that erases stage and distances.
The songs can only be small traces, little more than sound notes of that journey that started even before 1945, the year of Liberation, a journey many times begun with broken shoes and the sole baggage of a great Ideal, a journey that is perpetuated today in Democracy thanks to the sacrifice of so many and the struggle of a People. Songs as modest acts of remembrance, whose artistic value may be debatable, but which belong to culture and tradition, and whose weight has been consolidated in a certain militant imagination.
